Solar in Texas
Crescent Solar
The Crescent solar project is a planned 545 MW solar energy project under development in Wilbarger County, Texas. As a company dedicated to developing and delivering energy solutions with long-term impact, our projects create jobs, build community partnerships, generate revenue for local governments and schools, and protect the environment.
Texas has long been a leader in energy generation and innovation, and AES is proud to play a vital role in supporting the state’s efforts to deliver abundant, reliable, and affordable energy.
Our commitment
We believe in being a good neighbor, ensuring responsible clean energy development reflects the unique character and needs of the region, and creates long-term value and positive impact for both the environment and local communities.
Economic and environmental benefits
The project is expected to generate substantial economic and environmental benefits for local communities and the region.
Project details
- AES will be the long-term owner and operator of the facility, ensuring responsible management, sustained economic benefits, and a lasting partnership with the local community
- AES has collaborated with SOLARCYCLE and their advanced recycling facility in Odessa, TX to recover over 95% of materials (glass, silicon, silver, copper, aluminum) when panels are damaged during construction or operations, building a domestic circular solar economy and reducing landfill waste
- At the end of the project's life, a decommissioning plan allows for the land to return to uses consistent with land-use policies at the time
Expected project timeline
How clean energy benefits local communities
Long-term tax revenue to counties, towns and school districts
Landowner income diversification, keeping land in the family
Job creation during construction and operation
Local economic stimulus during construction
Low-cost source of electricity that supports local energy security
